Michigan Sea Grant Extension staff members claimed two awards at the recent Great Lakes Sea Grant Network conference in Alexandria Bay, NY.
Brandon Schroeder, Sea Grant Extension district educator, received the Early Career Award for his significant accomplishments during the past five years, including working with Lake Huron fishery stakeholders to adapt successfully to the changing conditions, developing a coastal tourism business support Web-based tool box, and organizing and coordinating Great Lakes and aquatic sciences education programs.
The Outstanding Program Award went to Sonia Joseph, outreach coordinator of the NOAA Center of Excellence for Great Lakes and Human Health (co-administered by Joan Rose). Sonia has increased awareness of and acted to address Harmful Algal Blooms in the Great Lakes region in collaboration with Sea Grant colleagues in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio and Michigan.
