Gear up for eXtension next week

eXtension is the national web presence for Cooperative Extension – an effort to provide objective and research-based information and learning opportunities that help people improve their lives from the land grant universities of the United States. Information is organized by program content areas and is provided by Extension professionals from across the nation. As we seek to become more adept at delivering (and receiving) Extension content and programs through technology, eXtension must be a core part of our strategy. In order to accomplish this, our eXtension team is developing some introductory lessons on how to use and contribute to eXtension in your programming.

The first session will be provided on Monday, October 26, 2009 from noon to 1:00 pm and will be repeated on Wednesday, October 28 at the same time. A second lesson, “Moving Beyond the Basics – eXtension and Social Media” will be provided on Friday, October 30 from noon to 1:00 pm.

All of these will be available on-line through Adobe Connect. In order to connect, you can join the audio portion by conference call at 800-264-8432, code 278456, AND the video portion via the web: eXtension Lunch & Learn. This is one of those times when simply calling in without going to the web site will probably mean you’ll miss much of what goes on in the workshop. If you’re on campus, you can join by coming to room 11 or room 105 in Agriculture Hall on all three days. Jerry Thomas, our eXtension Fellow (from Ohio State Extension) will be “live” in room 11 on the 26th and will webcast from Ohio on Wednesday and Friday.

If you’d like a head start, you can go to eXtension and join with a log-in and password, or get a reminder if you’ve previously connected but forgotten. Login here to reach the professional side of eXtension: .
