During the face-to-face portion of Fall Extension Conference 2011, we will be seeking teams of two to four staff members to compete in our video scavenger hunt. We’ll give teams a brief training on how to use a Flip video camera and a list of fun facts they need to find out from other MSU Extension staff. Team members will find staff to interview on camera about the fun facts. The committee will compile the footage and share it during the online conference. Examples include: Find someone who has attended the most Fall Extension Conferences; find someone who knows the best fishing story about Dr. Coon – now you get the idea. If you’re interested in playing, please form your team and email your team name to Molly Frendo (firstname.lastname@example.org). We can accommodate up to ten teams – so hurry, space is limited! The winning team will win an MSU Prize.
The committee invites you to stop by the MSUE photo booth during the face-to-face portion of the conference. Participants can take fun pictures with colleagues and share their thoughts on the future of MSUE. Pictures will be shared during the online portion of FEC11.
During virtual FEC, please stop by the FEC Hangout. The FEC Hangout is an Adobe Connect space dedicated to networking during the conference. In this room, we’ll share the links to pictures and video taken during the face-to-face portion of our conference along with providing a space for collegial networking. Using polls and chat pods, we’ll gather your instant feedback and work to keep up the great conversations that we know will take place during the first half of our conference. We’ll share the link to the FEC Hangout as we approach the online conference.
Find Sparty Contest: Sparty is with us! Starting Oct. 11, take a very close look at the Fall Extension Conference website and you may find anywhere between zero to 10 Spartys. Copy the links to the sites and send them to email@example.com. (Please submit one time with all links in one email.) If you find all of them and the correct amount, you will be entered into a drawing to win a Sparty prize! Have fun and Go Green! Deadline for submission is Oct. 19. Awards will be announced on Oct. 20.
Finally, join us on the last day of virtual FEC11 for closing remarks from the Director’s Office, a brief awards ceremony and a quick game show testing how well you know your redesigned MSU Extension. We’ll be looking for one representative from each MSU Extension institute to play our online Jeopardy-style game.
Professional development opportunity
The MSU Fall Extension Conference virtual sessions (Oct. 18 and 20) are an opportunity for ALL MSU Extension staff to engage in professional development important to their daily work. There are sessions that any MSUE staff member can benefit from – all from their worksite. Registration for all FEC sessions – person to person and virtual – ends Oct. 5. You can identify your interests in your registration form at http://web2.msue.msu.edu/fallconference/registration.cfm.
The FEC11 is also an opportunity to renew our commitment to the Extension mission. We are privileged to be able to serve Michigan residents in ways that can improve their lives in truly significant ways. Throughout the conference, there are activities that will recharge your spirit and deepen your awareness of the purpose of our work. I encourage you to engage and fully participate in all of these sessions.
