Last week, we shared the sad news of Michigan State University Extension Health and Nutrition Institute educator Lucia Patritto’s passing. I was fortunate to attend her memorial on March 24, and was deeply touched by the response of so many members of her community to her loss and the way they embraced her family. We sometimes take the fact that our colleagues are leaders and change agents for granted. Monday’s service was a good reminder for me of how special the people of MSU Extension are. Lucia’s obituary gives a good illustration of the many ways she made a difference in her community. You can find it at http://www.yourdailyglobe.com/story/2014/03/22/obituaries/lucia-maria-patritto/2508.html. Although we’re a lesser organization than we were with her passing, we’re also so much more because she was our colleague.
